It has been a while since our last blog post here. OK, it has been a very long while, but we hope it is not too late to explain ourselves! This has been a monumentally busy summer (and early autumn) with a number of projects all falling at once. Juggling workloads with family holidays (ah, those hot, heady days of summer…) presented a few challenges.

Innovation – doing things differently

When it comes to buzzwords, ‘innovation’ is right there at the top of the list – and not just among scientists and R&D experts. It crops up everywhere; from blog post titles to company names, it is constantly being used to describe all manner of activity. It is a positive term; exciting, enthusiastic, uplifting and stylish. It creates a buzz.  But just because it is a buzzword, we shouldn’t just write it off.

Communication for start-ups

I’ve been involved in an extremely interesting discussion in the SpinOut LinkedIn group.

I asked the question: “At what point should a spin-out think about communication strategies?”

Well, I certainly got people thinking. Everyone says that communication is a) important and b) needs to be planned early. But then there is some contention about who the communication is targeted at, what it is trying to achieve and who should do it.
