Science communication… outside in

When I am contracted to write copy for a business which wants to generate more sales, I usually start by trying to understand their target market. Who are they trying to sell to? What do these people want? What problems do they have? What do they value and what do they respond to?

When these questions are answered I can go about turning the information I have on the business into words that will engage these people. Writing is so much easier when you take the audience’s perspective and answer the questions they are asking.
